Gift Giving: Rainbow Fruit Jar Directions

Materials:
  • Fruit's of the Rainbow -  Strawberries, Cantaloupe, Pineapple,
    Green Grapes, Blueberries, Purple Grapes
  • 1 Pint Mason Jar
  • 2mm Jute Craft Cord
  • Tag Template
  • Cardboard
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
Directions:
  1. Gather all your fruits, make sure to wash all the grapes, blueberries and strawberries if they haven't been already.
  2. You can either choose to start the rainbow from the bottom or the top, for me I started backwards beginning with the purple grapes. Create a full layer of purple grapes and make sure most of the gaps the grapes create with one another are filled in. (If you don't close up all the gaps you have a chance of a smaller fruit (blueberry for example) falling down and mixing up the color line-up. Use smaller grapes to plug up the areas if necessary.
  3. Next take your pre-washed blueberries and create another visible layer. To make sure the rainbow technique is working and that you've made a thick enough layer, look at the Mason jar from the side.
  4. Repeat steps 2 for the green grape layer
  5. It is important to cut with a knife the next following three fruits. Slice these up medium sized, not too small. Just enough so that you are able to create another even and visible layer on top.
  6. After the Pineapple, Cantaloupe and Strawberries are cut, place the fruits in an even visible layer same as you had done for the grapes and blueberries. Make sure to keep checking the side of the Mason Jar to make sure the rainbow technique is not being compromised by gaps.
  7. Once the final layer of strawberries are placed on top, use the Mason Jars lid to seal it close.
  8. Take the 2mm Jute Craft Cord and double it up and wrap around your Mason Jars "neck" to takes its measurement. Cut where appropriate.
  9. Use the template to cut out a tag with the cardboard. Use an Xacto knife for a cleaner cut.
  10. Take the doubled up Jute Cord you just measured, and slip it through the tags die-cut hole. Create a slip knit once it passes through,
  11. Take the tag that is now attached to the jute cord and tie it around the mason jars "neck"
  12. Sign the tag as desired :)
  13. ENJOY!
